Why Ubénin?

The idea of Ubénin was born from a simple observation shared by Donatien: the search for university programs in Benin is often lengthy, confusing, and poorly guided, especially for new graduates. Orientation in higher education in Benin lacks clarity, centralization, and reliable feedback.

In response to this, we envisioned a platform capable of centralizing essential data, facilitating exchanges between students, and making the landscape of higher education in Benin more transparent.

What benefits for the educational community?

Ubénin is aimed at an entire generation of future graduates seeking guidance, as well as students who wish to reorient or deepen their academic journey. Higher education institutions also find a space for visibility, while alumni can share their experiences and guide younger students.

By creating a direct link between these stakeholders, Ubénin helps build a more supportive, informed, and forward-looking educational community.

Values

Ubénin is built on these essential pillars that guide both its functionality and its usefulness to its users.

Ubénin supports students in their choices by offering a clear and accessible view of the Beninese university landscape. Through an intuitive interface, they can explore various programs, compare institutions, and discover opportunities they might not have considered.

Reviews and Communication

The application encourages the sharing of experiences through reviews from former students and the ability to interact directly with other community members. This direct connection fosters more informed decision-making and promotes a dynamic of mutual support across generations.

Centralized Directory

Ubénin centralizes key information about higher education institutions in Benin. Users can access a reliable, regularly updated database that brings together the main universities, schools, and programs available in the country with just a few clicks.

Implementation

In collaboration with Donatien, Roméo, and Ghislain.
Regarding the technologies used, Flutter is our development tool.
For the university database, we opted for Google’s Firebase.
The chat server is implemented using Socket.io technology in NodeJS.
